So I used to go to coffee shops quite often but I suppose that was mostly before I had my own house and before my husband and I figured out that we can make it much cheaper (well I guess we always sort of knew that) and just as good (this has come with time and skill development–even though I still want to get an espresso machine rather than relying on my French press or percolator). So, I rarely go to coffee shops anymore for those reasons but I totally enjoy it and especially when I go with others so as to spend time with them. Hilariously enough, I have gone to my favorite coffee spot today and yesterday! Yesterday with a friend and today with my mother. Both days I got a jalapeno cheddar bagel with jalapeno cheddar cream cheese and a latte–yesterday hot and today iced.

Oh, yeah, and yesterday I also got a twice baked almond croissant. So totally the best dessert for me right now. Life-changing.

Okay, so about the tattoo…. we’ll get there.

So this coffee shop has two locations and the location I prefer is on the other side of town and I prefer it because of the aesthetic–beautiful mulch and rock “color-blocked” landscaping, and a really cool vibe on the interior. The other location that I visited these last two days is in a really great location, though.

Listen, if you haven’t learned by now that I like to support each post with all of the anecdotes, then I mean maybe you haven’t read enough of my posts, so you should get on that.

So the guy with the tattoo…

Growing up my cousin had these elaborate birthday parties that her talented mother would put on–I mean full on themed. One of the best was the safari themed and we got our faces painted. I think I was a tiger? There’s a picture around here somewhere. I think the last party I attended was the time where we did a Fear Factor tasting and I won of course (read “Hobby Town” to learn about my competitiveness) after not being afraid to eat a wet lasagna noodle and sardines. Anyway, the tattoo guy was at at least one of her birthday parties.

I also knew of this tattoo guy because he was in musicals with my cousin… he was Raul and she was Christine in Phantom of the Opera. So amazing!

So, there is a bit of context to those anecdotes–I want you to know that I knew-ish this guy when I said what I said.

So it was years ago and I was at this coffee place (the aesthetic one) with the same friend that I was with yesterday and this guy was working the register. I happened to notice a tattoo on his arm of an icosahedron! Before noticing this, we did have a interaction where we both realized we knew of each other. Anyway, I figured we were close enough that I could ask him if he knows the name of the polyhedra in which he decided to tattoo upon his arm. He said “I think so… is it dodecahedron?” Blasphemy! I of course corrected him and then proceeded to tell him that he doesn’t deserve that tattoo.

Was I fair? Would I have said the same thing to a complete stranger? Who knows. My poor friend was mortified, but also sort of used to this type of “math in your face” behavior. What can I say? I like math, and all who know me who it!

Lastly, I would like to share that one time a cashier at this coffee place (that aesthetic one) had a super awesome tattoo that looked like a coffee cup ring stain on a table…and that’s the whole story.
